At a time like this, the last thing you need is the uncertainty of seeing a dentist you don’t know or who won’t be able to handle your emergency promptly. If ever there was a time when you needed immediate attention from people you trust, this is it. That is why, at Clark Dental Studio, we always make your dental emergency a priority.

By nature, dental emergencies are unpredictable, so we always reserve time in our schedule for seeing emergency patients. If your emergency occurs during regular hours, we’ll make arrangements to get you in as quickly as possible, usually the same day.

Of course, most emergencies seem to happen after hours, and we know how upsetting that can be – especially if the emergency involves your child! For your peace of mind, we regularly check our messages after hours. We’ll get back to you as quickly as possible, listen to your concerns, and explain how to deal with the situation until we see you the next day. Dr. Clark and our team will do everything to make sure you get the treatment you need when it matters most.

How to Handle Dental Emergencies

With any type of emergency, your first step is to call us and tell us what’s going on. Our goal is to see you as quickly as possible. However, it’s a good idea to know how to deal with different types of emergencies before we can see you.

It's important to know that if your emergency involves trauma to your head, neck, or face, you need to call 911 as soon possible or go immediately to an emergency room. 

When a tooth is knocked out, time is of the essence because immediate action can make the difference between keeping or losing the tooth. Place the tooth in a glass of milk or water to keep it moist. 

In the case of a severe toothache, rinse your mouth with warm water. Try using floss to gently remove any debris or particles of food that may be stuck between teeth. Use an ice pack on the affected area at 20-minute intervals to relieve discomfort.

If you've cracked a tooth, rinse with warm water to clean the area. Again, a cold compress placed on your face (for no more than 20 minutes) will minimize discomfort and swelling.

A lost filling or dental crown weakens your tooth and leaves it without protection. Please call us immediately to minimize the risk of further damage.
